While we've done our very best to provide you with facilities that offer a safe environment for storing your goods, there are a few easy measures that you can take to help prevent damage.
- Avoid newspaper - Don't use newspaper to wrap your goods, the ink will rub off and could stain your goods. Our store has ink-free paper available.
- Cover that furniture - leave slipcovers on chairs and cover them with plastic. Wrap furniture with padding for added protection. Our store has a selection of covers on hand for you to choose from.
- Line your boxes of documents or books with plastic to avoid moisture absorption.
- Filling empty spaces in boxes with paper can help prevent delicate objects or documents from being crushed.
- Wipe down your metal items (bicycles, tools, machinery, etc.) with machine oil to prevent rust.
- Pack books flat, rather than vertically, to avoid crushing their spines.
- Photographs tend to curl over time. To prevent this, place them between layers of cardboard and tape them together.
- We don't recommend storing one-of-a-kind photographs, films or documents.
- Motorcycles, cars, lawnmowers, and other machinery should be drained of all fluids prior to storing.
- Hide-a-bed couches should not be stored vertically as it can damage their frames.
